I'm curious as to why people keep responding to this ancient thread, but more curious as to why they keep starting with this disclaimer. Why not just read it all?

I don't know. The purpose of the hypothetical situation was to deal with free will, not to figure out God's motivations. I don't think any of my points for discussion rely upon assigning a motivation to God.
