I saw in the paper recently that some school systems in several states are going to a four-day week to save money. Is this a dangerous trend? Can students learn as much in four days as they can in five? What happens to teacher's salaries? Will parents have extra child care costs? Will students spend that extra time well, or will they get into trouble?

On the surface, it seems that three-day weekends would be nice. After all, it gives more time for homework (snicker!), part-time jobs, recreation, sack time, chores (giggle!), television, video games and other activities.

How about some opinions here?
