I agree with you. I did think the movie could have been better (I won't go into detail), but all throughout the movie the thing that took my breath away was the way human beings are willing to fight and die for each other. And it wasn't done in a cheesy way like in many many movies. It wasn't preachy or sappy; I saw real, sacrificial love that could have been in the real world--not just in the movies. That was perhaps what saved the movie and even made it really good.
