I hope you will understand when I say that I could not bring myself to read the rest of your post. This may be my favorite movie of all time, and I do not think I would do well to engage in debates over its merits or lack thereof. It was such an extrordinary experience for me that I do not think I will be discussing it with people who have largely negative things to say.
But I say this with respect for the fact that people can have different opinions about movies, with thanks for what I am confident was a thoughtful reply to my post, and with understanding of how my approach to the movie may well be a minority one.
I did not care so much that it bring together some philosophy or answer questions for me or fulfill any expectations, for I had none. It was, for me, a movie about dying for your friends and fighting for what you believe in, about faith, hope, and love. These themes were displayed to me in a manner so powerful as to take my breath away and leave me sobbing.
We did not see different movies. We saw through different eyes.
