I've been wondering about this for about seven weeks now. If you look on restaurant menus, they often list selections for fat people who need low-calorie food. They sometimes even mark selections that are "heart healthy" for those with heart problems. But there is nothing listed for diabetics. They will put sugar in just about any dish, and you will have no idea that it is there, but that old blood sugar tester will find it. I avoid cole slaw, one of my favorites, because it often contains sugar. Tomato sauce served on pasta also can have a bit of sugar. Creamed corn is full of it, as are some breads where you would never expect to find sugar. Most restaurants have no sugar free desserts, and I've even found a few that don't have unsweetened iced tea.
If you read package labels, you will find a few grams per serving in almost anything, but you never see the labels in restaurants.
I ate a fijita at the local Mexican restaurant. There was a lot of different stuff in that meal and I really expected it to kick my sugar levels up a few points, but it dropped a little. That was a nice surprise. Maybe I should just stick to Mexican. How"no longer a sweet guy"ard
