I remember Green Stamps! The grocery store we went to up until I was twelve or so would spit them out of this big, round, red machine when we checked out. Then when we got home we'd put them in these books my mom kept in the desk, and when we had a whole bunch, we'd go down the the green stamp store and trade them in for something.

Now at the grocery store I have a chance of winning a little coin every time I check out. It can only be used at the grocery store, though, and you can't sve them up toward something really neat, so it's not quite as much fun.

I wonder how many kids don't know that "grocery store" is what we used to call a supermarket, back in the day?
