For anyone who is into really big stuff and bored with space travel (OK, who am I kidding), you should check out anything and everything related to the tar sands mining done in Fort McMurray, in northern Alberta. I grew up there, and reading some of these size descriptions coming from Beasty and Brunnen-G, I find myself unimpressed. Why? Because I grew up playing inside tires that were taller than a grown man. At the local tar sands museum, there was a bucket from a dragline that could easily park an SUV inside, with room for a couple of motorbikes. The draglines themselves have booms that are (if I remember correctly) two football fields long. (Might have been four.) And we're talking about the full-sized CFL football field here, not that wussy NFL field.
Of course, I'd still recommend the Kennedy Space Centre first. Even though I haven't been there, I guarantee that the weather is nicer, and Fort McMurray doesn't have any huge buildings -- just huge machines. If you're bored of Kennedy, though, pack your warmest clothes and head for Fort McMurray.
