I keep meaning to reply to this and now I am.
So, yeah, that place RULES.
I spent my 25th birthday there while I was visiting the US. (Wow, over eight years ago? I still remember it so well!) I remember the astronauts memorial, the old control rooms. I also did the tour and saw those crawlers. They move at about half-a-mile an hour, as I recall. Isn't that the biggest US flag anywhere they have painted on the side of the Vehicle Assembly building? I also remember seeing the old Saturn V rocket just sitting there on its side. The Rocket nozzles were easily wide enough for you to park an SUV in them or something...
The best memory I have is the garden they have out the back, full of old rocket motors and lunar landers and stuff. I have a photo of my brother standing against a single Saturn V first stage booster rocket engine. It's all there, nozzle and motor, he's six foot tall and doesn't even reach halfway up the nozzle.
