You wouldn't want to let your kids know that there are different schools of thought on any issue.
You wouldn't want them to even consider the possiblility that one or more of their parents may not have all the answers.
You wouldn't want to have them see you struggling with what you believe and how it should be applied.
You wouldn't want them to have to see their parents coming to a compromise.
And you certainly wouldn't want them to think about these things for themselves.
