I think you mean "psychologist." Psychologists listen and try to help you reason out your problems. Psychiatrists prescribe drugs.

With regard to a major, don't just take random core classes early on unless you have to. If design is something you may be interested in but aren't sure, try a class in it to see if you want another one. For a lot of academic majors, you don't take the main stuff for your degree until after the first couple years.
