Well, yeah. That was sort of my point. Rules and regulations set up by a Church are, in the end, totally irrelevant, so long as one has faith in Christ. That said, I fail to see how church traditions and rules are an inherently bad thing, making that particular faith somehow worse than others. Christ is what's important, and implying to me that because I choose to observe Lent, or any other practice of my Church, somehow detracts from my faith does not sit well with me. I find that such practices do indeed help to strengthen me, and are not simply silly little things I go out of my way to do.
