Police, firemen, and the military have such memorials, so why not educators? You hear of a teacher killed at school, usually by a gunshot, and they are just as dead as a policeman, shot by a crook. Both the policeman and the teacher were just doing a job that was intended to make the world a better place. It will not be better for their families. Memorials won't bring anybody back, but they are nice for those they leave behind.

I think it scares me a lot that I'm apparently living in a country where it's even POSSIBLE for teachers to get killed in the line of duty, let alone in large enough numbers that anybody would propose a memorial.
