I know some of my ideas stink, but this is one of my better ones. Why not a memorial for teachers and administrators who are killed in the line of duty? Police, firemen, and the military have such memorials, so why not educators? You hear of a teacher killed at school, usually by a gunshot, and they are just as dead as a policeman, shot by a crook. Both the policeman and the teacher were just doing a job that was intended to make the world a better place. It will not be better for their families. Memorials won't bring anybody back, but they are nice for those they leave behind.

I'm thinking of passing this on, and I suppose it might be interesting to the National Education Association or maybe the Department of Education. Downtown Washington, D,C, sounds like a likely site. But first I want to try the idea out on a group such as this forum. What do you think?
