Five years ago I was involved in my first car accident. I wasn't old enough to drive yet, so it was my brother at the wheel. First I will have to explain how my brother was like back then, if you got in the car with him, it wasn't moving unless everyone had a seatbelt on, and thank God he was like that. Well we had just dropped his girlfriend off at her house like 10 miles down a backroad. I think it was a little wet on the roads, but on the way back 2 of my other friends were in the back seat arguing. Well my brother turns around and tells them to shut up. By the time he turned back around he was a little bit off the road but heading into a curve. Instinctively, he jurks the wheel back toward the road. He then sees a car comming and panics causing him to jerk the car back the other way. We do a 360 on the pavement then slide into a ditch. Well that would have been all hunky-dory to me but what should happen then? A cubbord(sp?) just so happened to be there. So we go flying up in the air, land on the roof/hood the first time, then do 2 end over end flips until finally resting on our roof. I pulled myself out of the car quickly and rushed over to the driver's side and tried to get my brother's door open. He slides out of my door instead. I looked around and seen my other two friends behind me standing there with a bit of a paniced look on their faces. But because of our seatbelts, all four of us teenagers walked away from a wreck like that with out a scratch. Later, a police officer told me that he's never seen a crash that bad in his life where someone wasn't seriously injured or killed. So I thank God as much as I can for just sparing me on that day. The worst part of it is if we had the wreck before we dropped off my bro's g/f, she would have definately been killed. The roof was smashed down past the dashboard in the middle of the front seats, exactly where she was sitting. It truely was a horrid event and my blood freezes everytime I hear the smashing of cars in an accident. So please! Everyone! Be careful out there. And do NOT say it won't happen to you, cause that's exactly what I said and I could very well have been killed that night. That's all from me. |
