I was writing about adventure.

Just before the computer misunderstood a random keystroke and wiped out my post, I was writing about adventure. Someone had referred to seeing a movie as an adventure and I was talking about the things I considered to be *real* adventure.
I was getting a little to wordy anyway, so briefly, here are some of the things I think of as adventure:
1. Hiking in the Kentucky mountains beginning at about age 8. I still enjoy hiking.
2. Bicycling long distances, and explorering whole counties on a motor scooter.
3. Fishing along river banks, jettys, beaches and from bridges.
4. Boating and canoeing, an outgrowth of fishing. Shooting rapids in a canoe.
5. Exploring wild caves.
6. Camping. We pitched our tent from South Carolina to California and from the Florida Keys to Maine.
7. Flying. Mostly as a passenger. I have flown in eveything from a J3 Piper Cub to a 777. That includes helicpoters and a sail plane.
8. Cruising. Always an adventure, cruising is an easy way to travel. And you can include the trip to and from the cruise terminal as part of the adventure. You get to visit foreign countries with a minimum of planning.
9. Collecting. Collections lead to adventure. I can read a lot of history from my coin collection. Collecting vintage scooters leads me to remote places where I prowl through old barns and sheds. I meet interesting people while attending meets with other collectors. A spinoff of collecting is photography, which can be an adventure in itself.
10. Computers. Is there a greater adventure than instant communications with people from all over the world? Howard
