I have already said this in chat, but just to make a more public record of it -- thanks for starting this thread. The mere fact of posting it, and other people posting all the replies it has generated, have kick-started both the forum and chat almost immediately. I can't remember the last time I've had such an enjoyable day talking to so many Rinkies.

As you (and others) have noted, somebody posts one of these SOMEBODY MAKE THE FORUM/CHAT STOP SUCKING cries from the heart a couple of times a year, and it always works. Really, Sam, the ultimate solution would be to write a program that randomly combines the usual complaints and suggestions from such threads, and generates a post to that effect every couple of months. And there you go. Nobody needs to put in any personal effort. The forum/chat stops sucking. The float valve of intelligence bobs a few centimetres higher in the toilet cistern of community, ready to release the waters of goodwill and happiness and flush the toxic mind sludge of the Internet hygienically away into the sewers of sanity.

Entropy is decreased, or at least slowed down, and there is great rejoicing.
