I call shenanigans. ADRIEN BRODY? NO. Daniel Day Lewis got ROBBED. Hell, Nic Cage deserved it more. I think the biggest travesty of the night, though, was the loss of "Adaptation," the best screenplay so far this MILLENNIUM, getting defeated by "The Pianist." I can only thing "Pianist's" dark-horse run must be some weird anti-war statement. Sigh.

Otherwise, things weren't too bad. It's a real shame "Far From Heaven" got jack and it's too bad "Chicago" won editing. Nicole Kidman got an Oscar, which is cool even if Moore gave the best performance of the year.

I liked Michael Moore's win, because I really enjoy his work even if I disagree with him frequently. His speech (and subsequent reaction) was hilarious. Too bad he didn't have a ballcap on.

I'm not sure if the highlight of the evening was Steve Martin's *killer* opening monologue or Peter O'Toole's speech. If they can't get Martin to host the show next year, they should consider O'Toole. I LOVED Kirk and Michael Douglas presenting, too.

All in all, a really fun show even if I disliked some of the winners. Some major upsets kept things very interesting. "Spirited Away" won an Oscar! There is hope for the Academy.
