In order of decreasing intelligence:

normal person
moron
imbecile
idiot


Very imprecise terms, based on subjective judgements - apart from the order, nobody agreed on what separated one from the next, and some practitioners added terms of their own.
"One child called imbecile in the first certificate, is marked idiot in the second, feeble-minded in the third, and degenerate in the fourth."

The whole system was, quite sensibly, chucked over eighty years ago, when Binet invented IQ.
