Nope, it's the real thing. (I believe my lecturer; you think that's a mistake?)
The thing is, until early this century, there was no way of actually *measuring* intelligence, so people had to guess.
(Now we just argue over whether the thing that the tests measure is really intelligence or just knowledge, and what is intelligence anyway, and...)
