Fair enough. Most of the reason why I even asked is because in your standard "alien invasion" or "first contact" SF novel, if the reactions of religious organizations are mentioned at all, it's almost invariably to point out how they either believe the aliens are not free willed beings and therefore inconsequential (or at least not on par with humans) or how they deny that the aliens are really aliens and are really demons trying to lead us astry (this is usually helped along by the fact that your standard pulp SF aliens generally *look* something like what we all imagine demons to look like) and I've always wondered why this 'cliche' was used.
