It looks like you're discovering that most people truly *don't* know what they want to do in life. You may have heard that more people end up in careers that differ from their college majors than not. You can also find statistics on how many people completely change careers in the middle of their working lives, and how often. For that matter, just the statistics on how many students change majors are telling.

I speak as an anomaly, though: I started off in computer science and haven't wavered from that course throughout two degrees, four jobs, and a web site. That isn't usual, but, you know, I still don't have what I want to do with my life all figured out.

One thing I will say, though: it's good to explore a prospective profession by observing some of the people in it and talking with them, but don't discount a profession because you see unhappy people in it or whatever. For one thing, no career is going to be perfect, but more importantly, it's *you* that's important here, not them. You don't want to become a teacher as a last resort; ok, don't. But that doesn't mean you can't be a teacher because it's something you think you would like to do. Hey, if you're wrong, bail out and experiment with another line of work instead.

Luck to you.
