Simple. He said in the Bible that He doesn't want to be worshipped the same way the pagan peoples worshipped their gods. He already said how to worship Him; who are we humans to think we know better than He?

Let's say there's this man. He has a wife, who is the cook of the house. Now, this man has told her that he does not like liver. He absolutely hates it. After a couple of slips with serving it to him, she gets into the groove of serving him food that he likes.

In the meantime, they have a son. And in the course of time, he grows up and moves away. Then the wife starts serving her husband liver all the time, even though she can just as easily get the foods he likes. When he reminds her of his strong dislike of liver, she tells him that she thought that since their son moved to Liverpool, she should start serving him liver again. He loves her, but you wonder what she's thinking...
