(Well, obviously not tourists, then...business visitors who were taking in the atmosphere, I suppose.) I was eating my lunch on a bench with a couple of friends, when one of these tourists/businessmen looked at us in a very surprised manner and asked if he could take our picture to show back home. Apparently, in Japanese schools it would be absolutely unheard of to eat your lunch outside. I still wonder where that photo is now, featuring me and two other people waving sandwiches in the air...

I saw a cartoon which showed a completely ordinary couple sitting on the front porch of their ordinary house, in some ordinary American town. There were several Japanese tourists on the sidewalk taking their pictures. I suppose we take pictures of people in other cultures, but somehow when you turn the situation around, it's funny.

Last summer at Dollywood, I accidently walked into a picture just as the Asian lady snapped it. I'm sure she got a good close shot of this quaint old Tennessee guy and is showing it all over the far east.

A few weeks later, back at Dollywood, I was photographing my grandkids. Three times, somebody walked right into the shot. Two of them were nice clear pictures of somebody's ear. The other was a woman with a scowl on her face.
