Some elevators have a little bit of built in confusion. For example the floors may be listed like this: 4 3 2 M 1 G B So is G ground or garage? In hilly country, the ground floor on one end (or side) of a building may be below grade on the other end, or it can even be a floor above the ground. That might be listed like this: 4 3 2 1 M G B Now we have M, the main floor, and G, the ground floor, and 1 won't get you outside without using the fire escape. But you will wonder if G is for garage again. Sometimes the garage is marked B, for basement. I have also seen R for roof. Sometimes they don't provide a clue, but other times it is spelled out for you.
I can't wait to see if the one-character lines in this post will be stacked up or strung out. How(elevator doesn't go to the top)ard
