I've done that already, and it's too easy to finish the game with an Assassin if you can get arbitrarily high HP and AC. > > The real challenge, I suppose, would be in beating the game without ever retraining a character and therefore without Druids or Assassins. > > I'm not convinced it's possible with just a single fighter, because he would constantly get paralyzed, and going through the game with a lone caster is just tedious (ask me how I know). In my experience, single character games add more tedium than challenge after the first couple of levels.
In my opinion finishing MR without ever retraining characters is tedious, but doable. (I haven't done it myself.) The REAL challenge is finishing the game without ever dying. Somebody attempted it once and gave up pretty much straight away. How about a "magic-only" game, i.e. use no items except key-like items (such as Proper Authorisation, Pass Gem, Bronze Key etc.) and handle all combat with spells only? Or has that already been done? I forget. It's been too long since I've played MR. When's the sequel coming up?
