That's odd, as, when I did "Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" last year (which uses a heavy east-Texas accent), it took me almost a half hour to pick it up. I think most of the trouble I have with Irish is that I can do Scottish - and they're too similar.

I love the Irish accent-- it's my favorite. For a long while the voice in my head [my personal thoughts, not all those space-grubbing little foriegn ones. Out! Out!] had an English accent. No clue why. I can sorta' manage an Irish accent, but it takes lots of concentration-- otherwise I slip into a mix of, well, everything. A friend was trying to show me role-playing and I tried to do Irish. I confused her 'cause I kept slipping into that mix, going back, then slipping again and it was always changing.
Just a tidbit.
Whenever I do other accents, it's those overdone, mocking ones. Mostly southern
