About "Key" items..

So I got down to Teralt. The problem is all my guys are only lvl. 15-16, and I don't have all the spells, so I died. I sold all my items to get more money, and then I died again. Right now, I'm making a second party to go back down and save them. However, my first party has all teh "key" items. Can I find those again in their original places with my second party, or do I not need them, or do I have to sell/drop them and then find them again, or what?
