FQ2 - Already stuck!

I know I am near the beginning, but I don't know what to do now. I've killed the cat and ridden out to the island, but all I got there was a coconut, ball and net. Was I supposed to do something more to the dinghy? I can't kill the lion or cyclops, or climb either gate. Or find the bucket, or enter the tower. Ugh!

My inventory is:
18 Onions
Small Silver Coin
Fishing Net
Blue Rubber Ball
1 Tree Branch
Silver Key
Coconut
Iron Support
Sack
Sap Tap
Huge Ladder
