Mmm. Titanic was a great movie. I went in to see it with no expectations, other than knowing I was dragging my husband there against his will (He hates predictable movies, i.e. "Donna, the ship sinks in the end, you know that don't you?") It's amazing how magnificently Cameron pulled off such a seemingly naive story, and it ended well.

So even if you could make a sequel to Titanic, it would always fall short of the grace and simplicity captured in the first film. Unless of course, you put Jack Dawson-DiCaprio and the ship through a fortuitous timewarp that happened to be passing by, and filmed "Titanic 2: Alien Intervention".
