It happened on the first floor of Mendocino Hall, in my third year of college, shortly before my Interpersonal Communications class. Throughout my three years at that school, I had a lot of classes in Mendocino Hall and I knew the building quite well. As I had time before class started, I walked into the women's bathroom, which was not an uncommon thing for me to do.
I stood there for a moment, wondering why a guy was standing there starting at me, and what on earth he was doing in the women's bathroom. I was trying to figure out what, if anything, I could possibly say to him when I suddenly realized that I was the one in the wrong bathroom. I somehow got out of there very quickly, though I remember him starting to smile as he said a cheery, "Bye!"
So that's my story. But there's a bit more to it; I was embarrassed, but I also knew the incident was funny. I left the correct bathroom a short time later, walked into my class, which was nearly at its 30-student capacity, and announced that I had just gone into the wrong bathroom. They started laughing, and there were more than a few people who said, "I once did that, too!" It was fun because I'd made people laugh, and I'd also learned that a lot of people have done the very same thing. However, it was only as I was typing this post that I realized the subject of the class was most appropriate.
