Nope, they're brothers. There was nothing in the games that mentioned this, though.

Everything turns out the same in the end. You just get a different item as an immediate result. And of course, the two people say different things in conversation afterwards.

Well, I was thinking a lot about stuff at my old college when I was writing the game. Not that the dining hall food was all that bad, but a lot of people would exaggerate about it.

That was just supposed to be a joke to make one think of Brackly Hall, not really at all connected. But yeah, about 75 years of difference, assuming Brackly Hall takes place around the current year.
