Liface, I must thank you for the revelation you have triggered in me. For over 28 years, I have been living under a shroud of ignorance.

In the 1980s, I scoffed at fat laces. I had a friend that wore fat laces because, back then, they were "cool." He was always complaining that they were uncomfortable, and I couldn't believe how dumb it was to wear something that not only looked stupid but hurt, too. I endured the pre-shredded jeans era with grim determination. More recently, I have persevered through the revival of bell bottoms. All the while, I asked myself, "I don't *get* this. What is wrong with me?"

So apparently the next fad is to deliberately have the pantsline below the underwearline? Finally, something clicks. I get it now. I get what fads are all about.

Fads are all about entertaining the older generations. This stuff isn't stupid: it's FUNNY. This is the younger generation's way of paying the older back for all the flak and stress they give them: offer themselves as targets of ridicule, so their elders can take a break from the stresses of the day with a hearty laugh at someone else's expense.

That RULES.
