The one Cynthia posted was cool. This is more along the lines I was looking for, though. I've apparently got until 79, about five years below the current average (I had no idea the average life expectancy for men had reached the eighties) probably mostly due to my refusal to sacrifice red meat for cabbage.

One of the oldest quotes on "I Think" is about the agony of waiting: "I have to wait *68 years* before I'm 95." (When I made that line up, it was "80 years before I'm 95.") It's 67 now, but it's just as well if that wait is cut short. I'm not entirely sure I want to live that long. Seventies is plenty.

I love this life and the people in it, but I'm not so fond of this world. I have a job to do in the here and now, and I'm not only happy to do it but find satisfaction in having the sense of purpose of knowing what that job is. Still, if Christ came tomorrow, it wouldn't be too soon.
