I haven't tried it yet, but people on Slashdot recommended http://www.spamcop.net. It's a place that apparently tries to end your spam for free.

As for Hotmail, I don't know if there's any way of really making the spam stop. I once opened a new Hotmail account, gave the address to nobody, and in no time at all, it had more than 200 spam messages in it. The only real solution is to use an e-mail address provided by your ISP, your school, etc, though I know that some free e-mail sites are better than others. (Rinkmail, for example, gives me about one piece of spam every few weeks, and even that has stopped lately.)

This leads me to another thought: I've been thinking of offering people free e-mail from my site. I haven't weighed all the pros and cons yet, but it's something I might do for specific people who ask. It can be checked from the Web (which I only recently discovered) or from an e-mail client like Outlook. Does anybody think this is a good/bad idea?
