I am using the movie as a mere example. A do not have a rosy picture or a hero's life in the military. If a similar situation should arise, dying for your country and saving someone of much more importance *would* benefit the country.

If while making the other poor bastard die, he does something that is going to make the 5 Star General bastard or the Secretary of State bastard die, sacrificing yourself to save him will help.
