It must not be all that bad, if Canada can boast more rednecks than we've got down here, and *still* remain the best country. :-)

This is news to me. Never even heard of rednecks in Canada before. But then a quick peek at some beaverskin-bound satire books revealed the following:

Canadian Redneck (ca'na'dian'-red'neck'),n. /
1. Disparaging Canadian, mainly found in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and western Manitoba. 2. An uneducated, Canadian farm laborer. / 3. Also known as a Hick or Yokel. 4. A cousin of the southern U.S. redneck, but no relation to the Canadian Newfie.

Heheh. I know *several* Canadian farmers because I work with them everyday in the machine shop, during the off season. For people who can turn out fittings with a precision of 1/1000th tolerance, it's funny that they even call themselves "hicks". After all, farming is pretty high-tech these days.

> Rednecks in Canada? I'm Canadian born and still retain my citizenship, but I ain't nevah met no rednecks down thar. I reckon yous from sum otha part o' Caneeduh. Actually I'm from Montreal. And everyone there is stuck up and valley-ish (for all the Californians here)

*Ahem* I don't think you can compare the fussy Upper Westmount accent to anything near the Ozark drawl. You claim to call yourself a former Montrealer but think we speak valley-girl? Ben retournez icitte-la et j'vais t'en mettre en place! Tabernouche!

"Like sure, no way, eh?"

(Just joking about the local French slang, Byron ;)
