Long car rides.

Today i just got back from the disneyland area of California. By car. It is an 8 hour drive and is extremly boring. But my question is: after sitting in the car for 8 hours doing nothing but reading, how can i be tired? i exerted no energy, but feel exhausted. I know this happens to other people to, and that I'm not crazy, but why? it makes no sense.
