We are suffering from a considerable case of Spring Fever in my Civics class today. I teach twenty-eight students, of whom perhaps three are diligently working. Here in Canada, we are celebrating Victoria Day on Monday, so it's our first long week-end since Easter. In the specific part of Canada in which I live, it's referred to colloquially as the "May 2 - 4 Weekend" - a reference, in part, to the grand tradition of opening the cottage for the summer and enjoying a case of beer while doing so.
The weather is lousy outside - cold, rainy, and about 8 degrees C, but we're all without focus, anticipating week-end plans, and praying the weather will improve. The teachers are just as bad as the students. Heck, we're probably worse. One guy sang "Echo Beach" all through lunch, and now it's running through my head.
*Sigh* It's only Thursday.
Is anyone else in the world suffering from the same ailment? Most folks I talk to have already been through this, and are well on their way to summer. How about Rinkies in the Southern Hemisphere? Is there an autumn equivalent?
