My wife gave me this book a couple years ago for Christmas because I was interested in refreshing my knowledge of United States history. I got through the foreword and the first couple of chapters before setting it down for good. Whether he's "right" or not, Zinn's editorializing just wore me down. What I really wanted was a record of the events themselves. I realize that an historian's personal agenda comes through even in his selection of which events to write about, and there's no such thing as a truly objective history book. I'll put up with that to an extent, but Zinn just really stuck in my craw. I suppose I'll probably pick the book back up sometime and give it another try, though.
