Now that brings up another point that I didn't really address. The Brackly Hall maze is evil, and the three-dimensional mine maze in Perils of Akumos is even more evil. The flower garden maze in Fantasy Quest is not nearly so evil by comparison, but it, too, was designed such that the puzzle IS geographic navigation. (The rest of FQ isn't so much maze-like as inconvenient, as there are a lot of one-way paths.)
On the other hand, Game of the Ages and Trail of Anguish are maze-free. In fact, the geography of Game of the Ages was specifically designed to make geographic navigation as easy as possible -- places are laid out pretty accessibly, relatively free movement is permitted, and later on in the game there is an instant transportation mechanism that you can use to zap from one place to another instantly.
So I should have asked Gahalia if she found navigation difficult ALL the time or mostly just in the maze-like areas.
Gahalia, do you find navigation difficult ALL the time or mostly just in the maze-like areas? GOAT is probably the easiest game to navigate, even outside the maze-like areas of the other games, so how do you fare with that?
