We had a long discussion one night about the fact that neither his character nor the woman's character, who often have whole shows built around their particular storylines, have had (and in his opinion, will ever have) storylines that include their personal lives to the extent the storylines about the white actors do. I had to think about it to realize he was right, but he is.
Pardon me for putting the obvious to words, but that's sad. I know in my 60%+ Hispanic town, minorities are rarely if ever discriminated against (except in schools, but that's high school for you). We have few blacks, but those who I know say that they haven't faced anything like what they've heard about from the past.
My mind keeps trying to play the situation you described as a coincidence, but I can't be sure because I wasn't there. Did he who chose the cast make that small discrimination, if unconciously?
*shrugs* I guess just because I haven't faced it yet, I don't want to believe it could really happen.
