You made me look it up. You are correct. Sidney Poitier won one, and prior to this year that was it. I was getting confused with Supporting Actor wins by Lou Gossett, Jr., Cuba Gooding, Jr., and possibly others.

In Supporting Actress, Hattie McDaniel won for "Gone with the Wind." I might have missed one or two in that category as well.
