If the alarm clock doesn't do the trick...

My sister who lives in California is leaving for Oahu in about a week. She has to get up at 4 AM to make the flight, but being hard of hearing, she is afraid the alarm won't wake her up. She says she can't sleep with her hearing aid. So, knowing that we live three time zones to the east and that my wife, being a country girl, is always up before 7 AM, she has asked to be called at 4 AM, her time. The trouble is, if she can't hear the alarm, will she hear the phone? I emailed her saying:

"Willette said just let her know when, and she will call. She also suggested putting the alarm clock and/or phone in a metal pan or bucket to make more noise. You might want to try a bucket lying on it's side with the open end pointing at you. If you still have a cat, you could forget to feed it the night before. You might get rousted out at two or three AM. A louder alarm is a good idea. Just think how much fun you could have at the Wal-Mart trying out all the alarm clocks to see which one is louder! Another good idea is to call someone you don't like at 4 AM the day before you plan to leave. If the weather is cold, plug your electric blanket into a timer so it turns off at whatever time you want to get up.If you try all of these things, something might work. I guess the bucket is the best idea.

So fellow Rinkies, please feel free to use any of these ideas the next time you have an early flight to catch.
