"Sure fire" is right on the money. A 12 volt car battery won't shock you, but it will burn you. Avoid the high-voltage side of your car's ignition system. It won't burn you, but it will shock you. Usually, it won't shock you enough to injure you, but it will make you injure yourself.
I can't explain why, but experience has taught me that it's true.
