Yes, they should. I remember hearing about that last year during the actual awards ceremony. You'd probably have movies nominated for Best Sound for the actual aural qualities instead of for which one had the largest explosions.
2001 would have won for best make-up and costuming if they hadn't make their Dawn of Man monkeys too realistic. Voting members thought they used real apes, not actors in ape costumes.
