Earlier, I posted my initial Oscar picks (link below). Surprisingly, I haven't changed too many of these choices.

BEST PICTURE: A Beautiful Mind
Mental illnesses are the key to winning an Academy Award. If you don't have any mental illness in your movie, try adding a prostitute or the Queen of England. Make a movie starring a prostitute whose other personality thinks she is the Queen of England and the Academy will deliver the Oscar to your home.

BEST DIRECTOR: Robert Altman
It's always a good bet to see if the nominee is also in the running for Best Picture. LotR won't win any of the big awards simply because it is a fantasy movie and must be Made For Kids. It would be a toss-up between Altman and Howard if the Academy didn't have a habit of giving out awards to people they should've givem them to years ago if they weren't busy readressing snubs. When you get to the big four or six awards, you should look at the movies that were out three or five years ago.

BEST ACTOR: Sean Penn
More interesting mental illness than schizophrenia.

BEST ACTRESS: Halle Berry
I was swayed by Ebert's columns.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Jim Broadbent
I would say Ian McKellen, but I think Jim Broadbent might get more votes. The voting members of the Academy might recall his role in Moulin Rouge and award him for playing such a wide range of characters in one year rather than his acting ability in the actual movie he was nominated for. Very close.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Jennifer Connelly
I still think she's hot. Plus it was really a leading role.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Memento
I think the movie's gimmick will overshadow any of the screenplay's flaws that would not normally be overlooked.

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: Ameile
Sam is wrong. This is the next most surest bet of them all.

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM: Shrek
This is the surest bet in the Oscars. I hear they're renaming the award's name to "The Shrek". One wonders why Jimmy Neutrino was nominated over Final Fantasy.

BEST FILM EDITING: Memento
This will win for the same reason why it will win for Original Screenplay.
