I once heard of two guys who decided to use their natural competitiveness to help them quit: they both put this money weekly into a joint account, having agreed that the first person to take up smoking again would forfeit the entire amount to the other person. Naturally, the longer this deal went on, the more infuriating it would have been to give up and hand over the wealth. I believe they kept it up for many years and then agreed they'd both kicked the habit, whereupon they split the money and went out and bought Ferraris or something. > > Brunnen-"very glad never to have started"G
This reminds me of a story by Markus Kajo, one of my favourite Finnish writers. It might not be as encouraging as it could be, but I find it humorous. It, too, was about two guys who decided to quit smoking. One of them used a new drug (that was invented in the story) that cost him 60 000 Finnish marks (about 10 000 euros) and ended up in saving that sum in about 15 years. The other one would put the 15 marks (about 2.5 euros) he saved every day in a piggy-bank and take them to his bank. From the story (translation and errors by me): "And how much did this other guy save during the 15 years? Nothing. (Because banks charge you 15 marks every time you take your piggy-bank there for counting.)"
Anyway, wm, as I already wished you in Chat: Good Luck.
