People are always asking how a retired teacher and a retired secretary can afford to do all of the things we do. After all, traveling and collecting are supposed to be expensive. So when somebody asks that, we always mention that we don't drink, smoke, or gamble. Even one or two of those three can soak up a bunch of money. It's money I'd rather spend on other things.

I'm not very good at math, but I wonder how long you would have to refrain from smoking,(for example) to pay for a trip to Hawaii. I guess it would depend on how much smoking you refrained from, and how far you lived from Hawaii.
