The seats aren't comfortable, but they're bench seats that line the sides of the plane. .the soldiers have the whole middle to stretch their legs out ;) > > What kind of carrier is a herky bird? He wants to become a courrier-cargo pilot eventually. Actually, he learned how to fly instrument-only *before* doing visual-rules because he played so much MS Flight Simulator. More proof that playing 'puter games prepares you for the real world. :) > > Anyway Howie needs to buy a pair of good headphones/headsets -- since being properly able to hear Tower instructions is a matter of life and death, obviously. The good headsets are about $1000 though. Is there any way to get these at discount, or used or something? Just asking in case anyone knows; thanks. > > Wolfspirit
Tell him to talk to other pilots who are moving up. The first thing they do when they hit the big time (and the big bucks) is to update their equipment. If a pilot has been flying a Dash 8 and goes to a 757, his old earphones are probably still good but he might sell them cheap. Don't the carriers provide stuff like that? Most of them provide at least the basic uniforms. It seems like I should know this stuff with two airline types in the family. Howard (somebody else's uncle)
