There is a logical error in what you say here. Why does God's omnipotents fail if he can't be surprised or learn? God also can't sin, do evil, or generally act contrary to His nature. As well, He "can't" perform logical absurdities (like make square circles). This does not slight His omnipotence. He can do what can be done. Being suprised is not an attribiute of Power, but it would diminish an attribute of omniscience. God being omnicient, then, is not surprised. However, I would conjecture to say that He can be pleasantly amused at how we individually work out our own surprises for ourselves, much like I appreciate my own child's efforts, despite the fact that I may know the outcome of whatever course of struggle he may embark. Let's not denegrate the Biblical witness, but stand up for it. Thanks. ~MDiv
